MLL has been informed by Little League Inc that as of January 1, 2018, the new USA Baseball Bat standard will take effect.

This means that any Little League-approved baseball bats that were approved for use during the 2017 season or prior will no longer be acceptable for use in any Little League game or activity

This new standard affects only MLL baseball divisions from tee ball through Majors. Intermedidate 50/70 and Juniors may use USA Baseball or BBCOR bats. Tee ball bats produced/purchased prior to this date may be certified for play through the USA Baseball Tee Ball Sticker ProgramThis change does not impact the softball divisions.

‚ÄčThe recommendation to MLL parents is that if you are purchasing a new bat for your player please abide to the new USA Bat Standard. MLL can help you with any questions you may have. The easiest way to determine if a baseball bat is approved for Little League play in 2018 and beyond is to look for the USABat logo:

This new rule does not affect wood bats.  Solid, one-piece wood bats that adhere to Little League’s regulations will be allowed for play with or without the USA Baseball mark. Multi-piece wood bats must have the USA Baseball mark to be approved for play. This includes two-piece wood bats, composite wood bats, laminated wood bats, bonded wood bats, bamboo bats, and any wood bat that could be defined as an ‘experimental’ design.

For more information on the USABat standard and a complete list of bats approved through the USABat Standard, visit and/or the Little League website.
